St George’s College is a co-educational private school with sixth form in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is situated over two sites enabling its quality education to be accessible to students and families whether they live in the north or south of the city. The two sites both boast expansive and beautiful campuses and share the same philosophy, values and approach to education.
The school was a pioneer in offering the PYP and Diploma Programmes of the International Baccalaureate (IB) and has an ever expanding offer of IGCSEs to prepare young people for the modern world. It provides a fully bilingual Spanish/English education from British and Argentine teachers, with options in Mandarin and French also delivered by native teachers. It is an internationally looking school, knowing that whether graduating students choose to live and work in Latin America or around the world they will be competing for jobs in a global market. The school attracts an ever increasing number of students and families who have lived abroad and bring with them diverse cultural experiences. Many students, having enjoyed the rigorous international curricula of the IB, chose to study in universities around the world. With over 20 expatriate staff working at the College the majority of classes are taught in English.
The school boasts 120 years of history and still maintains many of its core British educational values. State of the art boarding and flexi-boarding facilities enable students who chose it to enjoy a 24 hour a day campus experience while they study. The house system, enjoyed by every boy and girl from Kindergarten upwards, breeds a strong sense of community, pride and belonging, in addition to enormous fun when it comes to the regular and diverse house competitions. The wellbeing of each student is a primary focus for the school thus each boy and girl is assigned a tutor to assist them in their learning, personal and social journeys as they travel through the school.
Across the two campuses the 1400 students enjoy plentiful lush green playing fields, theatres, science buildings, sports halls, swimming pools, astro-turf, and comfortable classrooms built into 21st century learning environments. The students and families of the school enjoy a privileged ratio of staff to student numbers, at times being as low as 7:1 (and even less in final years diploma classes). The school is thus proud to enable a personalised student centred education for all. This is reflected in many of the school’s alumni going on to have distinguished and decorated careers in Argentina and around the world. While results aren’t the only focus of the holistic education young people receive at St George’s College the school is proud to boast some of the highest IB Diploma scores in the country including a record 45 IB points one year.
